Located near the Salem Civic Center are two beautifully manicured sports complexes. There is always a football game at the Salem Football Stadium, which is home to the Stagg Bowl and hosts home games for Salem High School football. Rather watch baseball? Enjoy some peanuts and a hot dog and maybe even catch a foul ball at a Salem Red Sox game at the Lewis-Gale Medical Center Field at Memorial Baseball Stadium. Located less than five miles from our hotel, both stadiums offer satisfying athletic spectacles for both casual and serious sports fans.

A 2,175-mile long hiking trail, the Appalachian Trail stretches from Georgia to Maine. For amazing scenery and exercise, take an invigorating hike to McAfee Knob, one of the most photographed sites along the Appalachian Trail. McAfee Knob is a rock overhang that provides a nearly 270 degree panoramic view of the Catawba Valley, North Mountain, Tinker Cliffs and the Roanoke Valley, and its trail head is just a few miles from our hotel.
For walking, jogging or biking on- or off-road, the Roanoke Valley Greenways provide immaculately maintained trails for public use. These 22 miles of roads provide safe paths for pedestrians and alternative transportation routes throughout Roanoke Valley.
For a fun day indoors or out, visit the nearby Green Ridge Recreation Center. With an outdoor aquatic attraction featuring a huge pool, exciting water slides, a current river, a SprayGround and a Zero Depth Leisure Pool, this center provides an ocean of amusement. For year-round fun in the pool, the center also has an indoor aquatics area with lap swimming, a 15-foot water slide, hot tub, current river and a children's water playground. In addition to pool activities, Green Ridge has 10,000 square feet of exercise equipment in their Wellness Center, as well as a walking track, full-size basketball and volleyball courts, and an activity room with XBOX 360 with Kinect Motion Capture, Blue Fit Interactive Dance Floor and Wii, among other gaming equipment.
